Our Community with Habitat for Humanity
By E. George Rusaw, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County, Inc.
Thank you for logging onto our website! We appreciate your interest in Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County, Inc., and our mission. We hope that you will find all of the information you seek about our organization, however, if you have further inquiries that cannot be found on our site, please call our office.
We invite you to navigate through the various pages by clicking on the items that are of interest to you. Specific topics and information can be found in the drop-down boxes along the top of each page. For a complete overview of our mission and the families we have partnered with, check out all of the pages - to include links. We have purposely made the site comprehensive and content centric because our Affiliate offers so many services to those we strive to help, and for the convenience of the many volunteers, donors and professional contractors whose contributions are critical to achieving our mission goals.
The primary objective of Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County, Inc., is to help qualified families purchase a new affordable home. Much goes into this process beginning with Family Services, Building Construction and ReStore operations. By clicking on each of these general areas, you will learn the particulars of each department and become acquainted with the person directing the activities for that department. Upon doing so, it is our hope and belief that you will have a thorough overview of what we do, and if we address your specific need or interest.
You will notice additional links have been added that are intended to assist volunteers and homeowner/partners with construction schedules, volunteer needs, notices of upcoming events, and many other operational subjects. We have also listed many of our consistent donors and business associates, some of whom have links directed to their own websites. Please spend a few extra minutes to learn more about the people and businesses who assume such a significant role in our success.
After you have taken in all the information provided on our site, please take a moment to ponder the following: Habitat for Humanity is not a “hand out” program. Habitat offers qualified working families a “hand up” with the goal of becoming future homeowners and, as such, productive taxpaying citizens and neighbors. We also wanted to recognize those who consistently contribute their time, talents and monetary support for their selflessness, and for you to be mindful that they do so because they trust we are honest stewards of the resources we receive.
Our hope and prayer is that you too will become a part of the Habitat mission of providing decent and affordable housing for qualified Citrus County families. Habitat and its homeowners presently contribute $4 million dollars per year in economic benefits locally and growing larger every year. Therefore, assisting Habitat to help people is not only a good thing to do; it is a sound economic investment in our community.
