Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County, Inc. held a free orientation on becoming a Habitat homeowner on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Approximately 76 people attended and were presented with valuable information about the qualifications and steps required to complete the program. Topics included an overview of the program, eligibility criteria, required documentation and tips on becoming ready for home ownership. Light refreshments were provided by Capital City Bank, Crystal River, FL. For information about becoming a Habitat homeowner, call (352) 563-2744.

Capital City Bank Group Foundation Presents Check to Habitat for Humanity
On June 21, 2018, Capital City Bank in Crystal River, FL presented Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County, Inc. with a Capital City Bank Group Foundation (CCBG) check in the amount of $5,000. The CCBG is a non-profit organization designed to invest in initiatives they believe contribute to building a strong community. The mission of the Foundation is to enhance the quality of life in the community and only provides funds to local non-profit organizations. Habitat’s mission is to build strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing in Citrus County.

Thank you Angelo’s Restaurants for Supporting Habitat for Humanity. During the month of April 2018 Angelo’s Restaurants held a fundraiser benefitting Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County. Five percent of sales were donated to Habitat when customers presented their server with an event flyer. A total of $50.00 was raised and a check presented to Habitat on June 1, 2018. Angelo’s plans to hold another similar fundraising event in the fall of 2018. Thank you for supporting Habitat!
Thank you to Advanced Disposal of Citrus County for donating hundreds of clean and cosmetically nice garbage cans to the Habitat ReStores. The cans are available at both ReStores ranging in price from $10 - $30. Their generous donation helps Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County continue their efforts to build safe and affordable homes for families.

Thank you Lecanto High School National Honor Society
Lecanto High School National Honor Society students presented Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County with a $1350.00 check on Friday, April 20, 2018. The students held a Spring Fling 5K run on March 24, 2018 at Lecanto High School. Thirty Eight National Honor Society students planned, organized and participated in the event, under the guidance of Ms. Jessica Price, Lecanto High School Spanish Teacher and National Honor Society Advisor. The successful event, featuring a 5K run, a fun run, costume contest and music resulted in $1,350.00 being raised for Habitat. The students presented Habitat for Humanity with a check on April 20, 2018.

Thank you University of North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits Program
Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County welcomed the University of North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits Program students to the Inverness ReStore on March 13, 2018. The students volunteered their time cleaning, organizing, sorting and helping with outdoor yardwork at the Inverness ReStore. The group of students are part of The Outdoor Pursuits Program which is dedicated to providing fun and educational experiences for the University of North Georgia.

Inverness ReStore Receives Award
The Citrus County Chamber Ambassadors presented Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Inverness, Florida with the New Image Award at the February 2018 Chamber of Commerce luncheon for their new 12,000-square-foot Inverness ReStore that opened in November 2017. The Chamber congratulated Habitat on their New Image Award for their lovely addition to Citrus County.

Students of the Citrus Construction Academy in partnership with Citrus County Building Alliance, Withlacoochee Technical College and Career Source volunteered their time on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at a Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County construction site. The students installed baseboard trim in one on the homes that is nearing completion. Habitat for Humanity has built over 160 homes in over 24 years and relies heavily on volunteers to donate their time and skills to build the homes.
